A ryokan is a traditional Japanese-style inn. At a ryokan, you don’t do much besides eating, enjoying the scenery, and enjoying more hot springs; they basically treat you and feed you like a king.

Instead, I requested a private massage. I was knackered after driving from Gunma to Hakone. The massage therapist immediately saw that my body muscles were tight from all the driving, and I genuinely thought she had exhausted herself from massaging my back. It was one of the best massages I have ever had. Azaimasu!

After the massage, I hopped into the hot spring. Surprisingly, no one besides me and my friend was using it, so we decided to take turns. It had essentially become our private onsen. I can’t complain about that, can I?

The dinner itself was splendid. I love seafood, so this was my kind of meal. One of my friends is allergic to seafood and had the vegetarian version. I missed this sparkling sake so much! I don’t know what the name of this sake is, but you have to try it out!

More onsen for us after the heavy meal, and that’s about it. This is the life of living in a ryokan. As mentioned, there is little to do in a ryokan since you are treated like a king. While this was an extraordinary experience, I don’t think I will come to a ryokan solo.

The next day, we would head to the famous viewing spot for Mount Fuji. You can guess the place easily. See you in the next post!
