The king of Asian pop, Jay Chou (周杰伦)had two concerts in London. Once in 2017 and once in 2019, and due to some unknown external reasons, I got to attend both gigs! Wow! Lucky me.

His first-ever concert was held in SS Wembley Area, London. The tickets for this particular concert were sold out in 15 minutes, making this concert one of the fastest-selling ticket event ever in the UK. I wanted to go, after knowing this news, I just gave up. However, one of my friend’s friend could not attend, and she decided to give me the ticket. How nice!

This concert had so much going on. At one point, a gay couple was nominating some songs for Jay to sing, and Jay was having a conversation with them on their relationship, and they kissed in the end. I think that was my first time seeing a gay couple kissed live. Another massive news from the concert was the marriage proposal. This guy was waving a red scarf made by his mum, and his action caught the attention of Jay. Then, he said he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, but his girlfriend was not with him? Instead, she was sitting in a different section of the arena. After his proposal, Jay promised the girl a VIP concert ticket for the next day. That night was mega. I thought that was it; this would be his first and last concert in Europe. I was wrong…

He announced his return in 2019, and everyone was ecstatic again, but this time I did not think about it as I was in the final year of my undergraduate studies. But the same situation happened to me! A friend’s friend could not attend, and she decided to give the ticket to me. Talk about Deja Vu! This time, the concert was held in the O2 arena, which is larger than the SSE arena. However, due to its size, I sat further away to the stage. Well, I got to be honest, this concert was not as grand as the last one. Don’t get me wrong, I still thoroughly enjoyed it, but it did not have the same vibe as last time.

I still couldn’t believe that I had seen Jay Chou twice! And on both occasions, someone gave me the tickets. Wow! He is indeed making fewer songs now as he has a family to take care. His voice is not as strong as his younger self. Nevertheless, I will still love his music, especially the older albums, as they are part of my childhood memories now. At the moment, I am loving this song (again haha).
