This academic year was unlike any year before. We could not return to our university to conduct our final year project. The project was replaced by writing a grant proposal. Working in our rooms 24-7 was very dull, but there was a lot more free time available, and one day I decided to chill in Central London.
First, I went to the SkyGarden which is located at the top of the “Walkie Talkie” building. It is London’s highest garden with an incredible 360 view of central London. I spent around one hour in the garden to enjoy the view of London under sunny weather. Oh, I wished I have someone special with me to enjoy the scenery.
Then, I visited the Tower Bridge (NOT LONDON BRIDGE), the sunlight made it incredibly stunning. Unfortunately, I had to walk multiple flights of stairs to reach the exhibition. I could hear many people moaning and complaining while I overtook them. The display mainly consists of the bridge’s history, but I guessed the main highlight of Tower Bridge is the glass walkway. I loved how everyone was standing by the glass itself but not on it. I was the only one who stood on the glass, and then people only followed my footsteps (literally hahaha).
After finishing the Tower Bridge tour, I would stay in the garden near City Hall, to soak up the atmosphere. It was relatively peaceful, and I could clear my mind and emptied most of the negativity. I have never been to the Tower of London that holds the queen’s crown. Perhaps next time when I come back to London.
For dinner, I had booked a place at a brand new Japanese omakase restaurant in South Kensington. Well, it was not pure Japanese omakase; more like a French-Japanese fusion. Nevertheless, I loved the meal, especially the lobster sushi with lemonade. I do miss London a bit day by day. I will be writing on Greenwich in my next blog post. See you soon!
