Arsenal fans … look away 🙂
I have a friend who is an avid fan of Tottenham Hotspurs, and since we were all studying in London, this was his chance to watch a game live in the new stadium. I honestly wished they would give the stadium a brand new name instead of naming it “Tottenham Hotspurs stadium”. We called it a toilet bowl because of its shape.
When we first arrived, I could quickly tell that this stadium is significantly larger than Arsenal’s Emirate stadium. But of course, as a Manchester United fan, I still prefer Old Trafford (Although it is getting dated and need some renovation). The interior is also a lot nicer than the Emirate stadium. It looks somewhat classy, to be honest. The stadium has the longest bar in Europe, which is around 65m. It is also the largest bar in the UK. We were trying to act like a local fan by getting some alcohol and chips before the game. I was teaching him about the chants for the players. The shop was pretty neat, and of course, he bought many merchandises.
We waited for a bit before the players came out to warm up. Of course, enormous cheers for Son HM, H Kane, and Dele – Tottenham Hotspurs’ strike force at that period. H Lloris, Spurs’ first-choice goalkeeper missed out due to his arm injury. While my friends were trying to identify the players, I was looking out for the “Special One” – Jose Mourinho, after all, he was the manager of Manchester United before this job.
Kickoff! And within the first 10 minutes, Kane and Moura had scored in front of us. The playstyle of Tottenham Hotspurs was very fluid, which was unlike Jose’s park the bus style. At the 32minute of the game, we were about to witness the Premier League goal of the season. Son dribbled the ball from the team’s box till the goal while avoiding all of the Burnley’s players. The best part was he celebrated right in front of us. What a moment!. Half time – Spurs 3 – 0 Burnley. Not a bad half!
The second half started with Kane scored another goal. I guessed it was our lucky day because Mousso Sissiko had scored in that game. Throughout his time of being a Spurs player, he only scored 3 goals (at this time), and we managed to see one. The match ended with the score 5 – 0 to the home team—a 5-star performance for Spurs and the first clean sheet for Jose Mourinho.
It was an excellent game to watch, reminded me of the past football games I had been. I think this is one of the best games I watched in a stadium so far. The highlight is below here.
